Apprentice at the Brewery

Ed and Jonathan busily stirring the mash in the historic brewery

This past weekend Black Creek Historic Brewery welcomed Jonathan Bordan as an apprentice for a day. Jonathan’s wife surprised him with the apprenticeship as a birthday present. She learned about the apprenticeship through their daughter Noa who is an avid volunteer in the Historic Interpretation department at Black Creek Pioneer Village.
Ed and Jonathan brewed a brown ale using the historic tools and recipes in the brewery at Black Creek Pioneer Village. It was Jonathan’s first try at brewing beer and he said “I like drinking beer, but really didn’t know what went into making it.” Now that he’s had the experience of brewing at Black Creek he’s considering creating his own beer at a ‘brew your own’ store!
